While still down 18% since the beginning of the pandemic in 2019, China's new box office results show that people are getting back to the theaters again. Lost In The Stars was also the first film of the summer to cross the RMB1bn mark and the third of the year to date, behind Chinese New Year hits Full River Red and The Wandering Earth II. The local feature beat out Hollywood blockbusters Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, which ranked second and third in June. Although an increasing number of US features have been approved for release, none have yet to cross the RMB1bn mark. Lost In The Stars is adapted from 1990 Russian film A Trap For A Lonely Man and revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a woman during a vacation with her husband.
