The Thousand Faces of Dunjia (奇門遁甲) is an upcoming 2017 Chinese fantasy-wuxia film starring Aarif Lee, Ni Ni, Zhou Dongyu and Da Peng. The film is based on the ancient legends of Qi Men Dun Jia. It is directed by by Yuen Woo-ping and the script for the movie was developed by Tsui Hark. The film is scheduled to be released 1 October 1 2017.

The film is a remake of the 1982 movie 'Miracle Fighters' which was also directed by Yuen Woo Ping. The original story:

During the Qing Dynasty, Han Chinese and Manchu people were not allowed to marry each other. The Emperor commands Ko Hung (Eddy Ko) to kill his wife. However he refuses, and he has to see his wife die and engages in a battle with the Sorcerer Bat (Yuen Shun-yee). To escape, he also takes the infant prince with him. Ko Hung later accidentally kills the prince. However, he then finds an infant under a tree whom he adopts and names him "Shu-kan", which is literally translated as "Tree Root". To cover up what he has done, he puts the prince's jade on Shu-kan. Over a decade later, the Sorcerer Bat tries to kill Ko and tries to kidnap Shu-kan and pass him off as the prince. Ko becomes heavily injured, and Shu-kan (Yuen Yat-cho) goes to find medicine to heal him where he meets two elderly Taoist priests, Kei-moon (Bryan Leung) and Tun-kap (Yuen Cheung-yan). Kei-moon and Tun-kap are disciples of the same master (Yuen Siu-tien), and are always quarreling with each other. There the two teach Shu-kan their martial arts and magic skills. The Sorcerer Bat tries hard to get rid of the two to get Shu-kan, but later he manages to kill Tun-kap. Kei-moon then tells Shu-kan to enter a competition to obtain the Supreme Command. Shu-kan, using the skills he learned, enters the competition where he goes through many different obstacles before he faces off with the Sorcerer Bat. He eventually kills the Sorcerer Bat, wins the competition and brings the supreme command with him. As he returns, he and Kei-moon discover that Tun-kap actually faked her death to fool them to obtain the Supreme Command. The two elders then quarrel again over the Supreme Command. They then decide who will take it in a game of Rock-paper-scissors. First, they both hand gesture "rock", then "paper" but Shu-kan gestures "scissor" and beats them both. With the Supreme Command, Shu-kan commands them to stop quarreling.

General Discussion / The Great Wall 长城 (2016/2017)
December 26, 2016, 09:38:47 PM
The Great Wall 长城 is an American/Chinese 2016 epic historical fiction action-adventure film directed by Zhang Yimou and written by Tony Gilroy, Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro, Max Brooks, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz, staring Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, and Andy Lau.

During the Song dynasty, a few miles north of the Great Wall, William, Tovar, and three other survivors from a European mercenary group are pursued by Khitan bandits. Upon escaping they seek refuge in a cave, but are attacked by a shadowy monster, leaving only William and Tovar alive, the former having slashed off the monster's hand. The next day, they stumble upon the Great Wall and are taken prisoner by Chinese soldiers, who are led by General Shao, General Lin, and Strategist Wang. The officers have been preparing for a monster invasion which happens once every sixty years. However, they are frightened upon seeing the monster's hand, identified as a member of the Taotie species, as they believed the invasion was still weeks away. Suddenly, a wave of monsters attack the Great Wall, and the soldiers respond with archery, ballistas, and catapaults which throw burning rocks. Lin leads a company of female solders who jump off the Wall and are pulled back with elastic cords. The monsters are more intelligent and numerous than the soldiers' expectations, but are repelled with William and Tovar's assistance, which earns the soldiers' respect. Later, William and Tovar meet Sir Ballard, a European who, like them, had ventured east twenty-two years ago in search of gun-powder, which might be sold for a fortune back in Europe. However, Ballard was also taken prisoner, and has been serving as an English and Latin teacher. The three men discuss plans to steal gunpowder from the store-room and flee while the soldiers are occupied by battle.

General Discussion / Jean-Claude Van Damme - Full Love
November 15, 2016, 08:24:50 PM
Jean-Claude Van Damme has launched his project in 2008 to film his current movie 'Full Love' - also known as 'Eagle Path' and 'Soldiers'. Filming was completed in Thailand and the first edits were shown out of competition on the Cannes Film Festival in 2010 with additional scenes filmed in 2012. The movie, however, was never completed or officially released in any form. According to Van Damme the reason he also turned down Stallone's offer for the role in the original Expendables is because he was working on editing his movie.

Written, directed, produced by JCVD while he also plays the main role as 'Frenchy'.

Will he ever complete this movie? It's yet to be seen ...

Stephen Chow produces new installment for Journey to the West, this time Director Tsui Hark is sitting in the director's seat. The movie is scheduled to be released 28 January 2017.

The story takes place before Tang Sanzang got his disciples and embarked on the Journey to the West.

A riverside village is terrorized by a mysterious underwater creature. A Taoist priest kills a giant manta ray and insists that it is the demon. Sanzang, a self-proclaimed demon hunter, appears to warn the villagers that the animal is not the true demon. The villagers ignore him and, at the priest's provocation, strings him up. The demon reemerges and kills many of villagers. Sanzang frees himself and, along with the survivors, manages to beach the creature, which turns into a man. Sanzang then opens a book of nursery rhymes and begins singing to the demon. Annoyed, the demon attacks Sanzang. Another demon hunter, Duan, captures and turns the demon into a puppet. Sanzang tells to Duan that his master taught him a more humane approach and to use nursery rhymes to coax goodness out of demons, a tactic Duan scoffs at. Disillusioned, Sanzang meets his master and bemoans his lack of capabilities compared to more aggressive demon-hunters. His master reaffirms his humanist philosophy sends Sanzang off again to find "enlightenment."
